Meet the 13 year Old Nigerian Girl Who Interviewed Buhari in the US
She may be only 13-years-old but this special girl has shown that age is nothing but a number…there seems to be no limit to her potentials.. Despite interviewing lots of presidents and meeting lots of prime ministers and dignitaries in life, the Nigerian girl, Zuriel Oduwole has kept her cool and seems to remain focused as ever… Pictured is the teenage girl in a meeting with top company executives in the US… The most interesting part of this is how the top-shots listened to her with both their “ears and eyes” wide open as if it was president Obama talking….
Meanwhile, talking about US presidency -Zuriel also has big dreams of becoming the president of United States in the future (see pictures below)….an American president with Nigerian roots. We wish her the very best in her endeavors.

She interviewed the Nigerian President on a recent trip to USA.
Zuriel Oduwole who has interviewed 18 presidents and youngest in the world to have been on the cover of Forbes Magazine – took to her page this morning to write;

Meeting President Buhari of Nigeria. So when the world calls a country Giant of Africa, it could mean many things. I started my day today with a Giant Breakfast at the Mandarin Hotel in Washington DC. The Hotel paid for everything – I guess because the LORD is the real owner Thank you Jesus. I read some news to know all that’s going on, before my meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari. I talked to him about Education, I asked him about the success of the fight against corruption, what he wanted his legacy to be after he leaves office, how he sees Nigeria. He was very pleased to see me and he said some funny things too. Being President of any country is Hard. I know because I have now spoken to 19 world leaders and they all say the same thing about this. LORD, Give me wisdom to make good decisions every time. Thank you for ordering my steps, and for putting me before Kings.

NUC Make Provision For Only 400,000 UTME Candidates
The National Universities Commission has said that only 400,000 out of the 1.5 million candidates that sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination yearly gain admission to Nigerian universities.
The NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Julius Okojie, said this when Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole paid a visit to the commission on Wednesday in Abuja.
She was at NUC to collect the Certificate of Recognition for the new Edo State University, Iyanmo.
According to NAN, Okojie said new universities were needed to boost access to higher education while making sure that quality was not compromised.
He said, “I am always happy when a new university comes on board; what that means is that we are expanding and we are opening up access.
“We know the number of candidates that sit for UTME organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board every year.
“However, out of the 1.5 million candidates who take UTME every year, we are barely able to make provision for only about 400,000 students.
“The new university will, therefore, be accessible not only to candidates from Edo State but those from Ondo State and other states.”
The executive secretary said the Edo State University is the 41st state university and 142nd in Nigeria.
On his part, Oshiomhole said for sound university education, there was a need to produce sound secondary school graduates who would be able to face the rigours of university education.

Kogi-poly-protest
Students at the Kogi State Polytechnic (KSP) were told to go home on Tuesday as the institution’s management opted to shut the campus down “indefinitely” in the wake of violent protests.
The Polytechnic Public Relations Officer, Mr Luke Yakubu said that the closure was to prevent loss of lives and property. He also directed all students, including those in hostels to vacate the school premises immediately.
Students of the school went on the rampaged over the alleged killing of a female student by a commercial motor cyclist popularly called okada rider over N50 transport fare.
She died on Tuesday morning at the hospital where she was receiving treatment, a development which prompted the students to embark on protest.
The protest later degenerated as the students commandeered a truck carrying cement products and used it to block the Lokoja-Abuja highway.
According to witnesses, the students later set the truck and two other vehicles and many motorcycles ablaze, a development which completely halted vehicular movement on the road for hours.
Many motorists had to abandon their vehicles to seek refuge in nearby houses and shops as police engaged the protesters.
Kogi state Police Spokesman, ASP William Aya, told pressmen that the situation had been brought under control.
He also said that no arrest was made as the police principally came to pacify the students to leave the highway.

UNILAG Medical Students Protest Change In Cut-Off Marks

University of Lagos, UNILAG medical students protest the university’s decision to increase the cut-off marks.
UNILAG-PROTEST
UNILAG Medical Students Protest Change In Cut-Off Marks
Undergraduate students of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Wednesday shut down the gates to the university to protest the university’s decision to increase the cut-off marks they must meet in order to continue their medical training.
According to the students, they got the shock of their lives when they turned up at the College of Medicine for resumption of both academic and practical courses and they were turned back by the College management saying the new quota system will not be able to accommodate all of them.
“Despite meeting all stipulated conditions, paid required fees, all the management could tell us is that we are not welcome at the College of Medicine. How possible can Medicine and Surgery students be refused the rights to study in College of Medicine? It is sheer callousness,” Moji Adenekan, a protesting MMBS student said.
The UNILAG Head, Information Unit, Mr. Toyin Adebule, made this known in a statement on Wednesday night.
According to him, UNILAG authorities will not want to flout such directive, as those admitted outside the quota will not be allowed to practice after graduation.
The statement read in part, “This year, the professional bodies have insisted on the enforcement of the quota upon which accreditation is hinged and hence the college has had to conform.  What this means is that only students that are indexed will be registered by the professional bodies to practice after graduation.
“Senate at its meeting held on Wednesday, 27th January, 2016 had approved the implementation of the re-arrangement to conform to the professional bodies’ quota in order not to lose accreditation. This has regrettably meant that we have only been able to receive students into the college only up to the number the College of Medicine is allowed by the quota.
“We recognise and regret that this has led to some students being unable to cross over into the College of Medicine or their course of choice. Consequently, all candidates who were not successful to be placed in programmes in CMUL have been allocated to appropriate programmes on the main campus in Akoka.”

UNILAG Students Built an Electric Car (PICTURES)

09:30:00 0
This is what we heard in the news, that UNILAG Students Built an Electric Car. A group of Mechanical Engineering students from the University of Lagos have built an electric-powered car from scratch, using locally sourced materials.
UNILAG Students Built an Electric Car (PICTURES)
UNILAG Students Built an Electric Car (PICTURES)
The project, which began in 2014, was initiated by two engineering graduates (then undergrads), Olukoya Olusanya and Maduka Smart, who later enlisted the help of other mechanical engineering students culminated in the fact that UNILAG Students Built an Electric Car. The result of the collaboration was a zero emission electric powered prototype vehicle called dubbed the DOVE P1.
The DOVE P1, which is made of a fibre glass body, weighs in at about 200kg and is capable of speeds of up to 35 km/h.
While one would question the viability an electric car in a nation that struggles with reliable power supply. “Cars are going electric”, said team lead Olukoya Olusanya in an interview with CCTV News, “and I believe that in the next 15 years, more than half of all cars sold around the world will be either partially electric or fully electric”.
These are quite bold statements. All around the developed world, electric cars continue to struggle to get mass adoption. Their high cost, limited range do not help their cause much, even in developing nations where power is not a problem.
Nevertheless, Project Dove (as the team is called) remains confident that electric cars are the future. They have launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise $25,000 towards replicating the technology at other Universities all around Nigeria. It is quite wonderful that UNILAG Students Built an Electric Car.

Finally UNIJOS Suspends 91-day-old ASUU Strike

08:00:00 0
University of Jos, UNIJOS 91 days old ASUU Strike suspended.
UNICAL-Suspends-ASUU-Strike
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, University of Jos, has called off its three months old strike.
The Principal Assistant Registrar, University of Jos, Mr Abdullahi Adullahi broke the new exclusively on Facebook today. HE said “ASUU Unijos Suspends Strike Action.
Details below.
The University of Jos chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), who voted against ending the four-months-old strike, says it will resume classes if directed by the national body.
“Yes, the local ASUU chapter voted 159 to 88 against ending the strike at its congress on Monday, but we shall abide by any decision taken by the national body on Wednesday,’’ its Chairman, Dr. David Jangdam, said in Jos on Tuesday.
ASUU’s central body is expected to meet in Kano on Wednesday to take a final decision on whether or not to end the strike after collating resolutions from various local branches who considered the offer by President Goodluck Jonathan during their congresses on Monday.
Jonathan had made the offers toward ending the strike during a meeting with the striking lecturers who are seeking better funding for the universities and improved welfare packages for the teaching staff.
Jangdam said in Jos that the decision of the national body was final and binding on all local chapters.
“Even the strike was not supported by all the universities. Many local chapters of ASUU opposed it, but majority wanted it and we embarked on it,’’ he said.
He explained that ASUU’s decisions were usually from bottom-to-top with representatives at meetings having to revert to the local branches before any decision would be taken.
Jangdam, however, rejected suggestions that the local branch’s position was influenced by the internal disagreement with management over the conduct of the post-UTME examinations during the strike.
ASUU had condemned that action, and declared that the examinations were “illegal, wasteful and of no effect’’.
“At the congress meeting yesterday, we made it clear that no local issue will be discussed.
“Our focus was solely on the issues related to the national strike. Other local disagreements shall be tackled locally and therefore had no effect on our stance yesterday,’’ he said.
He said that the lecturers voted against ending the strike because they did not trust the federal government to fulfill its promises and therefore wanted something concrete to be seen on ground before resuming classes.
Jangdam also rejected suggestions that the lecturers had not been fair to university education in the country.
“I think the questions should be if the system is fair to the educational sector; Nigerians should ask the leaders why the educational sector is usually the least in their priorities,’’ he said.
He said that it was wrong for Nigerians to blame the lecturers for the bad situation in the universities, saying that the search light should rather be on those in authority that decided what should go to the ivory towers at budget planning sessions.
“Sometimes, I find the situation a bit perplexing; I wonder why should Nigerians complain about poor quality of graduates and heap the blame on the universities and the lecturers even when they know that not much attention is paid to the educational sector?,’’ he asked. (NAN)

Story of BSU Student That Bags First Class After 17 Carryovers (PICTURES)

01:51:00 0
The young resilient Idoma boy from Ohimini, the worst student in Physics, with 17 carryovers to his name will subsequently graduate from the same University from the Psychology Department with a First Class Degree with a CGPA of 4.57.
3275774_img20160109wa0001
His outstanding performance broke many records in the University; the first “First Class” result in the Department of Psychology since inception of the University in 1992.
Your soar-away King of Community tabloid, IDOMA VOICE brings you an exclusive story of Ohimini-born Agbo Odeh Hillary who broke academic record of the Benue University as the first ever First Class graduate from the department of Psychology.
Interestingly, he is the winner of the Idoma Voice Most Outstning student.
Here is the story of Hillary as told by Hillary himself.
The story of Agbo Odeh Hillary is the story of time and chance, Hilary was born on the 23rd December, 1985 in Otukpo Local government of Benue State.
He had his secondary education in LEA Primary School Otukpo and the proceeded Federal Government College, Otobi where he graduated in 2003.
He thereafter applied for remedial studies at the Benue State University in 2005 for a pre-degree program with intention to study Medicine.
According to him, he worked extremely hard and was one of the best in the Remedial Studies of that year but in a twist of fate, Medicine was offered to only 2 Remedial Students of Tiv extraction while he was offered admission to study Physics instead of Medicine and Surgery. In frustration, he took he took the bait and settled with the Physics he was offered with little interest in the course.
IDOMA VOICE learnt that determined Hillary struggled with the course due to lack of interest. It wasn’t surprising at all that Hillary could not cope with studies as frustration and depression set in in his academic pursuit.
Hilary was at his lowest ebb in in his final year when his 300 level result was published. Bravo! He was at the bottom of his class crawling with Seventeen (17) carryovers, albeit he was placed on probation by the school authority.
Hilary became the subject of mockery in the school among his colleagues. Like the four men with leprosy in 2 Kings 7 at the entrance of the city gate who said to each other, “Why stay here until we die? Hilary came to a decision point, why stay here and be withdrawn? He told himself the hard truth, it was time to move forward regardless the storms.
Undaunted, the young Hilary said he was led of God to pick a new JAMB form. Motivated by his desire to study Medicine which was practically impossible to get, he applied for Psychology which also had something to do with human beings.
By the second Semester in his 400 level, the JAMB admission was out and he was admitted to study Psychology hence, he withdrew himself from Physics Department and started a fresh academic journey in the department of Psychology.
It is said that adversity builds character, but it is also said that adversity reveals character. It is pleasantly not surprising that Hilary’s story is that of the grace of God at work and sheer resilience.
He persevered, and not just blindly. He took the best of his life and got rid of the worst part of his life, and moved on, realizing that he could make a choice to take the good. The young Hilary took the story of frustration and turned it into the best orchestral in the history of Benue State University.
The young resilient Idoma boy from Ohimini, the worst student in Physics, with 17 carryovers to his name will subsequently graduate from the same University from the Psychology Department with a First Class Degree with a CGPA of 4.57.
His outstanding performance broke many records in the University; the first “First Class” result in the Department of Psychology since inception of the University in 1992.
He also became the overall best graduating student of the 14th & 15th combined convocation of BSU held on 17th January 2015. His exploit came with several rewards, he bagged seven academic awards including the Tony and Awele Elumelu price for excellence.
When asked what was responsible for his rare achievement, Hilary attributed it to God. According to him, he has a photographic memory with capacity to retain and reproduce anything he takes in. He also said that there was a time in School that he had to read for 15 hours at a stretch.
Hillary love to read and engage in creative thinking. He dreams of becoming a professor of clinical psychology and a preacher of God’s Word.
