A new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) has been elected by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Senate. She is Dame Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi. Prof. Arinze-Umobi, a professor of Family Laws, was until her appointment the Director of Confucius Institute in the University.
She had held other positions such as Director of Early warning (Conflict resolution) and Chairperson (Tetfund Implementation Committee)
Prof. Arinze-Umobi is coming to the position with a wealth of experience garnered over the years in various capacities within and outside the university. This position is for a two year tenure subject to further renewal for another two years.
In her acceptance remark, the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration thanked the Senators for the opportunity and pledged her total loyalty to the University in the discharge of any assignment given to her by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joseph E. Ahaneku, FAS

The deadline announced for the payment of school fees is June 6, 2016.
All UNIZIK CEP first year students are implored to pay up before the deadline.

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, UNIZIK holds another Cult Renunciation ceremony at College of Health Sciences, Nnewi.

The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka will hold its second cult-renunciation ceremony under this administration on May 26, 2016 at the College of Health Sciences, Nnewi. The event will attract several powerful men of God who will officiate at the ceremony. May 26, 2016 has already been declared a lecture free day at Nnewi to enable staff and students participate in the ceremony that will hold at the CHS Auditorium by 11.00 a.m.
The Chief Host is the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. J. E. Ahaneku, FAS whose untiring effort towards improving well being in the University has attracted commendations from within and outside the University.
It could be recalled that a similar event (Cult Renunciation) was held at the Awka Campus of the University in 2015 where sixty seven students (67) renounced cultism.

unizik-filmThe Department of Theartre and Film Studies of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka will on June 17, 2016, premier its first commercial film titled “The Diary of a Campus Girl”. The event debut which will take place at the University Auditorium is written and produced by Prof. Tracie Utoh-Ezeajugh (the HOD of Theartre and Film Studies) and directed by Mr. Patrick Okoye.
The first of its kind in any Nigeria University, this film has many prominent faces in the movie industry who also graduated from UNIZIK. They include Oge Okoye, Ken Erics Ugo, Uju Okeke. Also other budding artistes participated – Precious Linus, Esther Iyare, Chima Igbokwe, Chukwuemeka Eni, Chibueze Igwe among others.
This film project, according to the HOD, is a purely University affair where staff of the Department participated either as actors/actresses or technical crew.
Speaking on the film project, the Executive Producer, Prof. Joseph E. Ahaneku, FAS who is also the Vice-Chancellor of UNIZIK, said the film project is exceptional as it is the first commercial film produced by any Nigerian University. Prof. Ahaneku also said that the film project is an opportunity to provide a new platform for employment of graduates. According to the VC, the film project is also a way of diversifying the Nigeria economy. He also stated that this film is a cinematic movie that can be shown in Cinemas. The University Community is invited.

This to remind all staff and students that the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) will resume 2nd Semester of 2015/2016 academic session commence on May 2, 2016. All staff are expected to be at their duty posts.
Students are to return to their hostels on April 29, 2016 preparatory to official commencement of lectures on May 2, 2016.
It must be noted that Lecturers are expected to take attendance of students in the class. Students should note that 75% attendance to lecture is a condition before being admitted into any examination in the University.

According to the sketchy details from Facebook, a giant python was today seen in Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.
The snake was said to have been seen around an uncompleted building in the university. According to our sources, it was killed by a hunter who lives in the building.
Trust students, they had to play around with the lifeless snake, taking selfies at will.

UNIZIK Student Becomes Millionaire in Talent Hunt (PICTURES)
UNIZIK Student Wins BIG at Talent Hunt (PICTURES). Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka, the Anambra State  recently had a Talent Hunt contest to pick reality music star and UNIZIK’s Intellectual Millionaire.
The event, which took place last weekend was UNIZIK Project Fame andMillionaire’s Quiz. Winners from the competition were awarded cash, scholarship amongst other gifts.
The contest was organised by Very Reverend Father Bonachristus Umeogu International Scholarship Schemes and Foundation and it aim is to develop and reward students with exceptional abilities.
The contestant came from various departments of the university to showcase their talent.
Ten contestants emerged after the preliminary screening and moved to the grand finale. The contestants took turn to display their mastery of different minds of music. The audience was held spellbound by their performance that lasted for hours.
UNIZIK Student Wins BIG at Talent Hunt (PICTURES)
At the end of the show, Frank Nlebedim, a 300-Level Psychology, who bears Frankstrings as his stage name, emerged the winner, winning a scholarship. Nnekka Okafor and Alfred Umeaku became first and second runners-up. They were rewarded with cash prizes.
The Millionaire’s Quiz was won by Chidera Igboneliaku, a 100-Level Corporative Economics student. She went home with N1 million cash prize.

have postponed her matriculation earlier slated to hold on the 8th of January, 2016.

The university authority however regrets any form of inconvenience the shift would cause.

The Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has appointed Dr. Ike Hycinth Isidienu as the new Registrar of the University. Dr. Isidienu was until this new appointment the Acting Registrar of the University.

Announcing the appointment on 18th December, 2015, the Chairman of the Governing Council of the University Air Vice Marshal Larry Koinya (Rtd) advised the new Registrar to discharge his duties conscientiously in the interest of the University.

Candidates Eligible to Apply for UNIZIK Pre-Science Admission.

Candidates are eligible to apply if they have a minimum of 5 credits which must include Mathematics and English. The candidate must also satisfy the basic O’Level requirements for the department into which he or she is seeking admission. For example where Chemistry is a basic requirement as in the case of Medicine the candidate must satisfy that requirement at O’Level.

UNIZIK Pre-Science Programme – Subjects Offered.

Lectures are offered in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geography.
The course outlines have been designed to prepare the candidates for JAMB and Pre-Science Examinations.

Candidates that participated in UNIZIK post UTME screening exercise can now check their admission status online.
As at  the time of this publication, UNIZIK admission list can only be accessed from JAMB portal and the school website.

Applied for Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) 2014/2015 diploma programme admission? We are pleased to inform you that the authorities of the institution have released the names of successfully admitted candidates.
As at the time of this publication, UNIZIK Diploma Admission list can only be accessed from Chisco Institute of Transportation notice board at the main campus in Awka.
PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION:
Admitted candidates are to visit First Bank UNIZIK Branch and make a payment of N1,000 only.
Then proceed to the admissions office at the wing ‘B’ section of the Administrative Block to submit the teller for registration.
Note: Lectures commence immediately.

UNIZIK pre-science/pre-degree programme 2014/ 2015 Admission

Following the release of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, UNIZIK pre-science/pre-degree admission list, the authorities of the university released the amount payable as programme fees and the registration/clearance guidelines for the newly admitted pre-science students.

All the students offered provisional admission into UNIZIK pre-science/pre-degree programme are required to:
A) Proceed to any of the commercial banks within the UNIZIK main campus, Awka and pay,
1.     His/her Programme fees of N44,000 for candidates with one result and N45,000 for those with combined results.
2.     N2,500 for Tertiary Health Insurance Programmes (TISHIP)  into the Enterprise bank LTD (Unizik branch) and collect bank   receipts/teller.
(B) Submit the tellers (Originals and photocopies) to pre-science office and collect admission letter.
(C) Photocopy the admission letter and bring same for screening along with the following:
1.     Original and photocopy of certificate and statements of (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) results from school.
2.     Original and photocopy of Birth Certificate/Baptismal card/Affidavit
3.     Original and photocopy of SSCE testimonial.
4.     Original and photocopy of teller of payment of fees.
5.     Two (2) passports photographs.
