Schng:
Can you introduce yourself?
Schng:
Can you tell us more about yourself?
Fifi: Am the last children of my family…ehe.. I am from Kalabari Kingdom
in Akuku-Toru to be beside in Rivers State. I study biochemistry in
the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), and I did my secondary school in Federal
Government College Abuloma
Schng: Are you a graduate? If yes, which
institution did you graduate from?
fifi: Yea am a graduate from the University of Port Harcourt
(UNIPORT
Schng: What can you say about your INSTITUTION?
Fifi: I left Uniport cope of years ago, actually I left in 2012. Talking
about my institution, a lot of things has improved…infrastructure wise Uniport
is good…credibility wise: you could write exams and pass and if you pass you
pass… am not saying malpractice was totally evicted, but it has reduced
considerably. Cultism also level down, apart from the time when they was a cult
clash during my year one. Uniport is an institution to be.
Schng: What programme did you pursue
at Institution?
Fifi:
Biochemistry
Schng: Was the programme, your dream
course, if Yes, how was the journey like?
Fifi: My dream dream course (laughs)… I started writing JAMB
applying for medicine. I got admitted but I had issue with WAEC, then I just
switch to biochemistry.
Schng: Who is your life most influential person in school, home and otherwise?
Fifi: In school, there are some people that was very pivotal to me
during my school days, especially in my class. There are some guys I should to
look up to help with school work, especially people like; Oboliya, Chinika,
Felaha, Kingsley Thompson and many others. Aha! My mother is a teacher, and you
know when you have such person around you but be serious with books. She equally
added to my success in school. And above all God.
Schng:
What makes you stand out among
your peers in School?
Fifi: hmmm…
depending on my mood, I think I was most of extroverted person, I do not think
there is any body in my class I did not at least say a word to. That has help
my progress in school, am also a cheerful student.
Schng:
Where you physically responsible for your welfare at School? If Yes, what
skills aid you financially at school.
Fifi: No, I was under the mercy of my parents.
Schng:
Were you awarded a scholarship doing your stay at school?
Fifi: Yes, I was awarded the Scholarship Program under the Rivers State Sustainable
Development Agency (RSSDA) from my year 2 to 4. The scholarship scheme has
really help a lot to me and my parents. It has reduced our financial burden for
me in school. It actually added extra money to me.
There are many
students in school today, who are not financially buoyant and who are not
currently awarded any kind of scholarship in school today, those who cannot
foot their bills in schools.
Schng:
What do you have to say to that and to them?
Fifi: I believe they should find out what they can do with their
hands, business that will not distort their academic performance, like they
should pick up baking, shoe making, bag making, hair dressing, being a made-up
artist… this are services that will sell more on campus and you could make
money out from it. They can also send airtime(recharges). And also they can
friendly with people who have books they need to read, that will give them easily
get access to their books.
Miss Fifi it our
honour having you responding to our questions. Up next will be asking you
questions regarding your social life.
Schng:
What do you think are your social qualities?
Fifi:hmmmmm…
if I will scale myself I will say am an Okay person, am always happy ,I smile…hmmmmm
am not unapproachable person…..laughs…. I think am an Okay person.
Schng:
Moving to the big one FIFI HOUSE, can you tell us how it all started?
Fifi:
The Food House actually started after NYSC program….no it was during the
service days, I was just to myself, I use to think about food a lot, with
imagination of what I can use it to do, and I was far away from home,... I will
just hang around my friends sometimes, we will just cook and just stay together
eat happily. So when I came back from the NYSC programme, a vacuum was created
at home, our cook was sacked and I later fill in the space for a while, then I just
started cooking, with MSc in view. I just started cooking and cooking and people
start telling me; like my friends, Ifeoma and Nene that I could really charge
for this, and I was like; all my mind and plan was to go to aboard… you know...
so I wasn’t thinking about it that way, I was away looking at the limitations.
But I was actually doing some small small Jobs; like party’s cook, barbecue,
baby dedications that people requested me into helping them, most time it was
for free or no cost. But at the end of last year, ushering this year I was
looking at it closely into making it big, here I am today.
Schng:
How do you see FIFI FOOD HOUSE in 5 years from now?
Fifi:
My dream about Fifi
Food House in years to come is to make it that one place where people in Port harcourt
and its environs will think of good food and rush to us as the solution centre.
