Students from various tertiary institutions in Benue State yesterday denounced their membership of various cult groups in the state.
A statement by the state commissioner of Police, Mr Bashir Makama, said the command would provide adequate protection for the repented cultists, adding that ex-cult members should encourage their old members to also denounce their membership.
The students, numbering about 54, made the denouncement at the interactive session between heads of tertiary institutions in the state and the coordinator of “Campus Cult Eradication Foundation Organisation, Mr. Samuel Ejemobi, a none governmental organisation.
Speaking at the interactive session, provost, College of Education Katsina state, Prof Mathias Nder, said “Cult activities was one of the major security challenges facing tertiary institutions across the state, he urged government to approve the inclusion of ethics and moral courses in the academic curriculum for the purpose of educating the youth morally.
Similarly, Miss Blessing Ibrahim, a student of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, told LEADERSHIP that she had denounced her membership of the “Reds.”
In the same vein, Mr Samson Adakachi, an ex cultist said he had denounced his membership of the “Vickys.”
