Good news for Corps Members in Rivers state. The Rivers State Government has approved the increment of the monthly allowance paid to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state from N5000 to 10,000.
This was disclosed by Mr Kenneth Kobani, Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
According to him, the corps members will soon start receiving the new allowance.
“The allowances of the corps members have been increased, and Gov. Nyesom Wike has approved the increment. “I have discussed it with the NYSC State Coordinator. They will get the funds shortly, the governor has approved it,” he said.
He equally stated that the state government will continue to support NYSC in providing facilities at the permanent orientation camp.
The SSG said the government would continue to support security agencies to ensure that the state was peaceful. He said it would be difficult to have 100 per cent security cover without cooperation from the public. “We need concerted efforts by government and all the security agencies working together to ensure that these problems are sorted out. “Of course, the general public is also part of it as well. The general public must provide information because the security agencies are not magicians,” he said. Kobani urged the general public to always provide useful information to the security agencies to nip insecurity in the bud.
