University of Port-Harcourt, UNIPORT M.Sc.in Petroleum Geoscience Programme admission form for the 2017/2018 academic session is now on sale.

The Centre for Petroleum Geosciences (CPG) was established in 2011 to cater for the geoscience skills and needs of the Petroleum Sector in Nigeria and the Gulf of Guinea. The Centre’s programme is of international standard and has evolved under a culture of excellence, global vision and professionalism to meet the ever-growing needs of the technology – driven industry.


CPG offers a conducive academic setting in a bold effort to encourage purposeful learning and research, which also includes field and operational facility visits. The programme, as designed, encourages students’ team spirit and leadership skills by living together and working in teams.

UNIPORT’s effort at developing the Centre is driven by the critical national and regional need to further enhance the professional realm of the academicMaster’s Degree Programme to provide graduates with requisite competence and adequate skills that can deliver the geoscience support needs of the Petroleum Industry.

The academic programme is delivered in modules, jointly by lecturers from the University of Port Harcourt and related academic settings, and also by experts from the Petroleum Industry both within and outside Nigeria.

On completion of this unique profession-driven Master’s Degree Programme, the graduates will among other skills, be able to:

  • Provide adequate geoscience inputs in the evaluation and management of Oil and Gas Fields.
  • Adapt effectively to use of modern techniques in operations, development and production geosciences.
  • Understand and know the state-of-the art techniques in geoscience data acquisition, processing and interpretation.
  • Professionally coordinate and supervise well data gathering and interpretation.
  • Participate skillfully and effectively interface in various Oil and Gas Field Review Programmes and Field Development Teams.

DURATION: The duration of the programme is 12 calendar months of intensive full-time study.

AWARD OF DEGREE: Successful students at the end of the programme shall receive a Master’s Degree in Petroleum Geoscience.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION:Students  shall be prepared and presented for certification as Associate Environmental Professional (AEP) by the National Registry of Environmental Professionals (NREP), USA and the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON).

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:Candidates must possess a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree Second Class Honours (Upper Division) in Geoscience, Petroleum and Gas Engineering or relevant Petroleum Geoscience related field, and should have completed their NYSC by December, 2016. Consideration for admission may be given to Company sponsored student with a minimum of three (3) years relevant experience with Second Class Honours (Lower Division) Degree, but with a CGPA of at least 3.00 (on a 5.00 scale).

APPLICATION FEE:  A non-refundable application fee of twenty-one thousand naira (N21,000) will be required to be paid to Centre for Petroleum Geosciences (CPG) on-line through e-transact to start the application procedure. The approved receiving banks for the payment are: First Bank, Access Bank, Fidelity Bank, UBA. FCMB and ECO Bank.

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Post-Graduate Programmes of the Centre for 2017/2018 session.


Introduction: The Centre for Logistics and Transport Studies (CELTRAS) is designed to train and produce technocrats and professionals in the area of Logistics and Transport in Nigeria. CELTRAS is therefore poised to provide adequate knowledge and practical skills for understanding and solving logistics and transportation problems in Nigeria as well as generate international support in funding for intelle ctual exchange through conferences, seminars and public ations. The Centre provides a conducive learning environment with well-equipped library and laboratory facilities. Students are also provided educational programmes through research and examinations, and industrial t raining in logistics and transport. Other opportunities are available such as in-service training for staff of logistics and transport and related Institutions. The aim of these post graduate degree programmes is to provide graduate in logistics and transport with broad based training requir ed by the public and private logistics and transport companies in Nigeria.


ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES: CELTRAS offers the following academic programmes:

Postgraduate  Diploma (PGD) Logistics and Transport  Management

  • First Degree from the University of Port Harcourt or any recognized University
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or its equivalent (with at least an Upper Credit);
  • Holders of a recognized professional qualification in Logistics/Transportation e.g. Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT); Institute of Transport Engineers (ITE); Institute of Transport Administration (IOTA), etc, with at least 5yea rs working experience in a transport or related organization.

Master of Science (M.Sc) Logistics and Transport Management

  • Post-graduate Diploma in Logistics, and /o r Transport Management from a recognized University with minimum CGPA of 50 on a 5 point scale
  • First Degree (not lower than Second Class Lower) with at least 3.00 CGPA in Transport, Logistics or related disciplines e.g. Town Planning, Economics, Geography, Civil Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning etc.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Logistics and Transport Management

  • An M.Sc Degree in Logistics, or Transport, or Logistics and Transport Management and a minimum CGPA of 4.00 on a 5 point scale.

DURATION OF THE PROGRAMMES

  • The PGD programme shall operate the modular system which has 10 modules and a Each module carries 3 units and shall runfor2 weekends, examination inclusive. It shall run for a minimum of 9 calendar months and a maximum of 18 calendar months for full time.
  • The M.Sc programme has 16 modules and a dissertation. The programme shall run for a minimum of 12 calendar months (3 semesters) and a maximum of 24 calendar months (or 6 semesters).
  • The minimum duration of the Ph.D programme is 3 calendar years or 6 semesters beyond the Masters degree. The Ph.D lectures ar e in 8 modules and candidates are required to take and pass the 24 units prescribed in the first 2 semesters of the programme.

Application is online, Log on to www.uniport.edu.ng and follow the instruction; a fee of Ten Thousand Naira only (N10,000.00), excluding Bank charges is required. Payment should be made at U &C Micro Finance Bank LTD, Access Bank, First Bank, UBA and Fidelity Bank Nationwide.
The names on candidates’ O’ Level Certificates must be same as what is filled online. Any False information given automatically disqualifies the applicant.

COMMENCEMENT DATE: Online application would commence from Monday, July 24, 2017.
CLOSING DATE: The closing date for application is Friday, 17th November, 2017.
APTITUDE TEST: The University Aptitude Test will take place on Saturday, 25thNovember, 2017. The Venue shall be the Ashgrove Academy, UNIPORT.
