Our theme: Get connected. Get educated. Be empowered to advance your tech career at “The African Women in Technology Conference”.  With a focus on providing solutions to challenges faced by young girls and women in technology, the AWIT conference will feature a series of hands-on workshops, a pitch competition, and candid discussions about how to position yourself for success—especially in a male dominated industry.
Like the first conference in Kenya, AWITGhana will be one of its kind event seeking to provide attendees a unique blend of hands-on and deep-dive tech workshops, information sharing, and discussions by professional women (and men) within the tech space. All aimed at encouraging and mentoring young girls to pursue STEM-based education programs and careers.
The AWITKenya conference attendees were 60% developers and 40% participants with non-technical backgrounds. The conference also created enough social media clout that the hashtag #AWITKenya trended both in Kenya and New York for the two days of the conference.
