The Authority of the Lagos State University (LASU) invites application from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the university various Part-Time Degree and Diploma programmes.

FACULTY OF EDUCATION
B.SC (ED.), B.A (ED.) AND B.ED.: FOUR AND FIVE YEAR SANDWICH DEGREE PROGRAMMES IN THE
FOLLOWING COURSES
i. B.Sc. Education Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Physical and Health Education, Health Education, Educational Technology, Computer Science Education
ii. B.Sc. Education: Economics, Political Science, Geography, Business Education, Accounting Education, Educational Management
iii. B.A Education: History, Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Religious Studies, French, English, Yoruba, Arabic.
iv. B.ED. Social Studies, Early Childhood and Primary Education, Guidance & Counselling.
GENERAL BASIC REQUIREMENTS
i. Five ‘O’ Levels Credits or TC II Merit Passes at not more than two sittings with two of the subjects at ‘A’ Level or NCE Merit Passes in relevant areas.
ii. A University/Polytechnic 2-year Diploma Certificate in the relevant areas obtained at not less than Merit level.
iii. Advance Diploma in Sports from Nigerian Institute for Sports
SPECIFIC SUBJECTS AREA REQUIREMENTS
i. English Major: Credit Passes in literature in English and English Language at ‘O’Level or its equivalent
II. Economics Major: Credit Passes in English Language and Mathematics
iii. Physical and Health Education, Social Studies, Political Science Majors;
At least a Credit Pass in English Language and at least a Pass in Mathematics at ‘O’ Level’ of its equivalent.
iv. Health Education Major: (i) A Credit Pass in English Language and a Pass in Mathematics
(ii) Holders of Staff registered Nurse and Midwifery Certificates are also eligible.
v. Mathematics and Science Major: Credit Passes in Mathematics and English Language
NOTE:
(i) General English at NCE is acceptable for ‘O’ Level English for all courses except English major
(ii) Merit in Arithmetic Process at TC is acceptable as equivalent for ‘O’Level Mathematics,
Other Considerations:
i. Mature candidates with passes at NCE who are not less than 35years of age may be considered
ii. ICAN (Part II) CIS (Part II) are acceptable for Economics.
FIVE -YEAR DEGREE PROGRAMME
The five-year Degree Programme is designed for candidates with NCE but who fall short of entry qualification for the four-year Sandwich Degree Programme.
DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION
DIPLOMA IN PHYSICAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION (TWO YEARS)
Candidates who posses, any of the following qualifications are eligible to apply for admission into the 2-year
Diploma in Physical and Health Education Programme.
i. Senior Secondary School Certificate with at least three (3) Credit Passes.
ii. Grade II Teachers Certificate with at least three (3) Merit Passes
i. General Certificate of Education (GCE) with at least three (3) Credit Passes at ‘O’ Level.
ii. Mature candidates not Iess than 35 years of age who are also international/national athlete with Medals/
Certificates who can benefit from the programme with at least 2 credits
DIPLOMA IN NURSERY AND PRIMARY EDUCATION (TWO YEARS)
i. Teachers with Grade II or other qualifications recognized in Nursery and Primary Education who have at least three years experience in teaching;
ii. Candidates with 3 Credit passes at Ordinary Level and at least a pass in English Language;
iii. Mature candidates of note less than 35 years of age but do not have the required 3 Credit passes and are presently in the Primary Schools maybe considered.
iv. Candidates with Passes in N.C.E
DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION
DIPLOMA IN LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE (TWO YEARS)
i. Candidates with four (4) credits at not more than two sittings to include English Language at the Senior Secondary School Certificate, West African School Certificate, General Certificate of Education or National Examination Council (NECO) Certificate.
ii. Candidates with merits in four (4) subjects including English Language at not more than two sittings in Grade II Teacher’s Certificate.
iii. There shall be a qualifying examination and interview for all applicants to be conducted by the University through the joint planning and coordination by the University Library and the Faculty of Education
FACULTY OF ARTS
CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME IN FILM STUDIES (1 YEAR)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidate should possess at least 3 credit passes in relevant subjects in Arts, Natural Science and Social Sciences at not more than 2 sittings at GCE/SSCE/WASC/NECO. Credit pass in English Language will be an added advantage.
WAIVER
1) Holders of TC II (Teachers Grade II) Certificates with at least 3 passes in relevant subjects are eligible to apply.
2) Mature Candidates not less than 30 years old with other certificates and at least 5 years relevant experience in their chosen course of study are also eligible to apply.
DIPLOMA PROGRAMME IN FILM STUDIES (2 YEARS)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidate should possess at least 4 credit passes in relevant subjects in Arts, Natural Science and Social Sciences at not more than 2 sittings at GCE/SSCE/WASC/NECO. Credit pass in English Language will be an added advantage.
WAIVER
1) Holders of TC II (Teachers Grade II) Certificates with at least 3 passes in relevant subjects are eligible to apply.
2) Mature Candidates not less than 30 years old with other certificates and at least 5 years cognate experience in their chosen course of study are also eligible to apply.
DIPLOMA IN MUSIC (2 YEARS)
The Lagos State University minimum entry requirement into the Diploma in Music Programme is as follows:
i. Credit pass in at least 3 subjects
ii. A minimum of merit pass at Grade 3 level in ABRSM or MUSON examination is acceptable for the programme
iii. Applicants by whichever mode they seek admission, must satisfy the Department of their basic musical aptitude and competence at a specially conducted Departmental audition. This consist of written (theoretical), practical (playing of various instruments, singing etc) as well as aural examinations. Candidates are recommended for admission only after they have passed the audition.
DIPLOMA IN THEATRE ARTS (2 YEARS)
i. Candidates intending to be admitted for the programme must obtain:
ii. Credit pass in the SSCE or GCE O’Level Examination or its equivalent in 4 subjects including English Language
or
iii. Credit passes in Teachers Grade II Examination including English Language and Social Studies. Credit in Literature in English will be an added advantage
iv. Waivers shall be given to mature students (not less than 35years) with other certificates but who have three years experience in theatre and media arts practice and with a recommendation from a renowned professionals
v. A good grade in the entry examination
DIPLOMA IN CHRISTIAN STUDIES (2 YEARS)
i. Candidates must have obtained:
ii. Credit passes in GCE/WASC O’Level examination in three (3) subjects, including Christian Religious Studies
OR
iii. 3 Merit passes in the Teacher Grade II Examination including Christian Religious Studies OR
iv. Certificates and Diplomas of Theological Institutions
v. Waivers shall be given to mature candidates (not less than 35 years old) with less or other certificates but who have relevant experience and
vi. A good grade in the entrance examination
DIPLOMA IN ARABIC AND ISLAMIC STUDIES (2 YEARS)
i. Aspiring candidates must have merit/credit level pass at the THANAWIYYA (secondary) level of standard ilmiyyah school. OR
ii. Al-l’dadiyyah certificate of standard ilmiyyah school with three credit passes in GCE/WASC O’level examination in any 3 subjects OR
iii. 3 Credit passes in GCE/WASC O’level examination in three subjects including Arabic and Islamic Studies
AND
iv. A good grade in the qualifying entry examination.
FACUL TY OF LAW
DIPLOMA IN LAW (TWO YEARS)
i. Candidates must have at least four (4) Credit passes at SSCE/GCE/NECO or its equivalent including English
Language and English Literature
ii. Mature candidates of not less than 53years of age with at least a Pass in English Language or Mathematics
with ten years working experience at managerial level may be considered
FACUL TY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES
DIPLOMA IN ECONOMICS STUDIES (TWO YEARS)
i. Credit passes in, at least four subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other subject in the Senior School Certificate Examination, General Certification of Education Ordinary Level or its equivalent.
ii. A Professional Certificate in Technology, Business Administration, Banking, Accounting, Law, Marketing, Finance, Insurance and holders of related Professional Certificates.
iii. Matured candidates of not less than 35 years of age with qualification below the minimum requirements of four (4) Credits which must include English Language and Mathematics or at least a pass in either of these but with not less than ten years cognate working experience may be considered.
DIPLOMA IN SOCIAL WORK AND ADMINISTRATION (2 YEARS)
An applicant for admission into the Diploma in Social Work and Administration shall normally be required to possess any of the following qualification.
i. Senior Secondary School certificate with at least 4 credits including English Language.
ii. GCE O’level with at least 4 credits including English Language.
iii. SSCE or GCE O’ level with at least 3 Credits and a Minimum of 30 years of Age.
iv. Officers from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Religious Organization, Media, Local Government Service, Security Agencies among others.
v. Any other interested candidates with OND/NCE/B.SC Certificates or equivalent qualifications.
DIPLOMA IN CRIME MANAGEMENT STUDIES (2 YEARS)
Entry Requirements
An applicant for admission into the Diploma in Crime management studies shall normally be
required to possess any of the following qualification.
i. Senior secondary school certificate with at least 4 credits including English Language.
ii. GCE O’level with at least 4 credits including English Language.
iii. SSSC or GCE O’level with at least 3 credits and a minimum of 30 years of age,
iv. Officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent or equivalent
v. Any other interested candidates with OND/NCE/B.SC Certificates or equivalent qualifications.
FACUL TY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
DIPLOMA IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (2 YEARS)
i. Prospective candidates for the Diploma in Public Administration Part – Time Programme must possess the West Africa School Certificate/Senior Secondary School Certificate, NECO or GCE Ordinary Level or its equivalent with a minimum of four (4) credits including English Language.
ii. Matured candidates who do not possess the minimum entry requirements but who can prove that they have sufficient work experience in Public Administration may be admitted in so far as they have attained the age of 35.
DIPLOMA IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS AND PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT (2 YEARS)
i. Credit passes in at least four (4) subjects including English, Mathematics, Economics, Government and any other subject in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, WAEC/NECO, GCE O’level or its equivalent.
ii. Matured candidates of not less than 35 years of age with at least a pass in either English Language or Mathematics plus credit passes in three relevant subjects may be considered.
iii. 4 credit passes which must include English Language and Mathematics or at least a pass in either Mathematics or English but with not less than ten years cognate working experience may also be considered
iv. 4 credit passes in Teachers Grade II/WAEC technical/NABTEB Certificate for candidates who are not less than 35 years of age. A minimum of 10 years cognate work experience is required.
CENTRE FOR PLANNING STUDIES
DIPLOMA IN PLANNING STUDIES (2 YEARS)
Admission Requirement
a) O’ level credit pass in four subjects which must include either English Language/Literature or Mathematics.
b) A pass in English Language or Mathematics with credits in any other two subjects.
c) OND/NCE/ICAN foundation/ATS/GRD II
d) Mature candidates not below 35years with not more than one deficiency from (b) above
e) A’ level pass in at least two subjects. Every A’ level credit is an equivalent of O’level credit
f) Any other qualifications as may be determined by the University Senate from time to time.
FACULTY OF ENGINEERING
DIPLOMA IN CHEMICAL & POLYMER ENGINEERING (2 YEARS)
a) Four O’ level credit pass including credit pass in Chemistry and a pass in English Language with any other three credits in sciences.
b) NBTE Certificate with credit in Chemistry and a pass in English Language.
c) C & G Final Certificate in relevant Field
d) Mature candidates not less than 30years old with relevant work experience with at least two credit passes of which Chemistry is a must.
