West Africa Examinations Council, WAEC cancelled 2015 withheld West African Senior School Certificate results.
WAEC Cancels WItheld ResultResult
The National Examinations Committee of West Africa Examinations Council on Thursday said it had cancelled results of candidates involved in examination malpractice at the 2015 examinations.
The Committee, which meets twice a year, to consider matters related to the conduct of the May/June and November/December West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), is the highest decision-making organ of WAEC on examination-related matters in Nigeria.
During the 60th Meeting, the Committee received reports on Special, Irregularity and Clemency Cases on the November/December 2014 WASSCE as well as Irregularity Cases arising from the conduct of the May/June 2015 WASSCE.
In the course of considering the various reported cases of malpractice, the Committee endorsed appropriate sanctions in all established cases of malpractice as prescribed by the Rules and Regulations governing the conduct of the Council’s examinations after diligent deliberations. It approved that the entire results of candidates involved in proven cases, which attract cancellation of entire results (CER) be cancelled, while subject results of those involved in proven cases which attract cancellation of subject results (CSR), be similarly cancelled.
In addition, some candidates would also suffer other sanctions such as barring them from sitting for the Council’s examinations for a certain number of years. Moreover, while some schools will be derecognised as examination centres for some years, other schools’ recognition as examination centres will be withdrawn making them unable to present candidates for WAEC examination. Also, indicted supervisors have been blacklisted while erring teachers and principals have been reported to their State Ministries of Education and ANCOPPS for disciplinary action. The decisions of the Committee will be implemented without delay and the affected candidates will be duly informed by the Council.

2014 waec result statistics
From the latest report reaching us, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the 2015/2016 WAEC May/June results.
Recommended:
Dr Charles Eguridu, the Head of National Office (HNO) of WAEC, announced the results on Monday. He said “A total of 616,370 candidates, representing 38.68 per cent, obtained credits in five  subjects and above, including English Language and Mathematics.”
Eguridu further said  118,101 results of candidates, representing 7.41 per cent, were withheld due to examination malpractice. Eguridu pointed out that the cases were being investigated and that reports of the investigations would be presented to the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) for consideration.
A total of 1,605, 248 candidates registered for the examination, out of which 1,593,442, consisting of 864,096 males and 729,346 females sat for the examination.
According to him, out of the 1,593,442 candidates that sat for the examination, “1,498,069, representing 94.01 per cent have their results fully released, while 95,373, representing 5.99 per cent have a few of their subjects still being processed due to some errors, mainly traceable to the candidates and schools in the course of registration or writing the examination.
Such errors are being corrected by the council to enable the affected candidates get their results fully processed and released subsequently. “Of the total number of candidates that sat for the examination, 758, 849, representing 47.62 per cent obtained six credits and above; 949, 862, representing 59.61 per cent obtained five credits and above, while 1,114,988, representing 69.97 per cent obtained credit and above in four subjects.
“In addition, 1, 295,915 candidates, representing 78.81 per cent obtained credit and above in three subjects, while 1, 376,743 candidates, representing 86.40 per cent obtained credit and above in two subjects. However, a total of 616,370 candidates, representing 38.68 per cent, obtained credit in five subjects and above, including English Language and Mathematics.”
But it is bad news for about 200, 000 candidates from the 13 outstanding debtor-states as the examination body promised not to upload the results of their candidates on the council’s website. This is in execution of the threat it made earlier if the affected states failed to pay up before the results are released.

West African Examinations Council, WAEC threatened to withhold results of candidates in 19 states for owing the Council N4bn in respect of entry fees for states government sponsored candidates.
WAEC to withold results of 19 states
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Monday threatened to withhold results of candidates in 19 states who wrote the May/June 2015 West African Senior Certificate Examination (WASSCE) over non payment of exams fees by their state governments. The 19 states according to the WAEC Head of National Office (HNO), Mr. Charles Eguridu, owe the council over N4billion for examination fees of their candidates for the May/June 2015 WASSCE and also few in 2014.
He, however, failed to make public the affected states. But said he is given them benefit of the debt, stressing that many of the governors have just assumed office. He however urged the indebted states to pay up within the next two weeks.
Eguridu said, “A total number of 19 states in the country owe the Council in respect of entry fees for state government sponsored candidates for the May/June 2015 WASSCE. Some states also still owe the Council registration fees for the May/June 2014 WASSCE.
“We have written to the affected state governments without any response. The poor response of the debtor states is threatening the smooth operations of the Council.
“We, therefore, want to publicly plead with the affected states to off-set the registration fees of their candidates as soon as possible, as we cannot guarantee that the results of their candidates for the May/June 2015 will be released along with others.”
